Charlottesville Wine Route – Barboursville
A fun mix of smaller and bigger wineries plus a cidery
Our Wine Routes are fully customizable. Want to leave out or add wineries, breweries or cideries? Go for it! You can even create your own route. After booking you’ll receive a link to set your itinerary. Groups 8 and up can tour this route, but should plan on visiting up to 3 venues for 5 hour tours.

You can set your pick up location after you book your tour. The Downtown pick up is used as an example to show driving time and distance for this route.
Castle Hill Cider is located in Keswick’s horse country on the historic Castle Hill Estate. Pastoral fields, meadows and the Blue Ridge Mountains beyond provide stunning backdrops. Some of their ciders are brewed in kvevris, big clay vats filled with apple juice and buried. The result is some really nice tannins as well as depth and complexity. Castle Hill offers local cheese plates and Virginia peanuts.
Open daily from 11am to 5pm.

Horton Vineyards is among the largest producers in the state today. The winery is beautiful, with stunning stone underground cellars, views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and a wonderful vaulted ceiling tasting room. Try their unique tropical fruit wines, like pear with a small blend of Viognier,and Blueberry with Petit Verdot.

Barboursville Vineyards' 2009 Octagon 12th Edition was awarded the 2013 Virginia Wineries Association's Governor's Cup. Barboursville is the first Virginia winery to win the award 4 times. The Tasting Room welcomes you with a roaring fire in winter, and covered loggias in the warm season. Here you can taste 16-20 wines, several offered only at the winery. You are welcome to roam the Historic Ruins of Governor Barbour's Mansion, a short stroll from the winery.
Open 10am - 5pm Monday-Saturday and 11am - 5pm Sundays.
Tastings $7 per person for tasting of current vintages. Free Tours Saturday and Sunday noon - 4pm.

Reynard Florence is a family-run boutique winery, producing hand-crafted and award-winning wines. Owners Roe and Dee Allison welcome you in the cozy tasting room overlooking the vineyard. The relaxed and personal atmosphere is a welcome change from the hustle and bustle at the larger vineyards.
Open noon - 5pm Fridays; 11am - 5pm Saturdays & Sundays; or by appointment.

Hop-on the mini bus to tour 4 great wineries. At Jefferson Vineyards sip wines from vines planted on the same sites where Thomas Jefferson planted his. Visit Blenheim, owned and designed by Dave Matthews. Enjoy reds and whites at hidden gem First Colony, and conclude the tour at a Pippin Hill, popular by locals for its food, wine and views.
